  • Can I file my taxes with my last paycheck stubs? 

No, you cannot file a return using your last pay stub. Your last paycheck stub is not guaranteed to be an accurate statement of your annual earnings, and it could be missing some information that you need to file a full tax return.

  • How long does it take to get my refund after I file my taxes?

DUE TO THE IRS BEING BACKED UP DURING TAX SEASON, IT CAN TAKE UP TO MINIMUM 6 WEEKS TO RECEIVE YOUR RETURN. IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT 21 DAYS TO GET YOUR REFUND AFTER THE IRS YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED BY THE IRS. 

  • How to schedule an appointment for an existing client?

    Welcome back and happy New Year!

    We want to thank you for your loyalty and trust in the Tax House family again this year.

    If you have already requested an appointment, please note it will not be confirmed until you follow the instructions below. 

    Before you can get on the schedule, you MUST follow these steps:

  • Look at the Checklist HERE

    • Gather all applicable documents.

    • Take a visible photo of or PDF scan your documents.

    • Once you have the photo or PDF scan please proceed to Client Portal.

  • Login to your client portal HERE

    • Use your email associated with your account and use your previous password to gain access.

    • If you don’t remember your password, click “Need a Password or Forgot Password” to reset your password.

  • Once you gain access to your client portal click on “Upload Documents”

    • You can upload directly from your phone or computer by clicking on “Browse”.

    • For multiple documents, you may have to upload them one by one.

    • Be sure to label your documents appropriately by using the “Description” section.

    • Once you have uploaded all relevant documents, make sure to open them to make sure they are visible.

  • After successfully uploading all your documents to the portal:

    • Request an appointment directly from your client portal by clicking on “Request an Appointment” (You can schedule no sooner than 3 business days out).

    • Be sure to specify if your appointment is Virtual or In-Person in the notes.

    • We are highly urging our clients to opt for using our secure and simple Virtual Tax Preparation system instead of in-person appointments.

  • You are all set!

    • You will receive an appointment confirmation email within 2-3 business days and your required retainer will be posted to your account.

    • Once you pay the required retainer to secure your appointment, you will receive an appointment confirmation from us.

    • If you have any questions or concerns, the best way to reach us is via your client portal.

  • How to schedule an appointment for a new client?

    Welcome to our Tax Family. We want to thank you in advance for your interest in us.

    Before you can be confirmed on our schedule, you must follow the instructions below:

    First things first, click HERE to gain access to our client portal where you will begin your tax journey.

  • Use your e-mail address to login.

  • Use password 1040 as your temporary password. 

  •  You will need to reset your password to something permanent. (Make sure to use 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 special character and 1 number for your new password.)

  • Once you gain access, you can start uploading your documents. Click HERE for a checklist of important documents. Be sure to include your 2 previous tax year client copies.

  • Upload your documents from your smartphone or your PC. Each upload must have a description.

  • Next, you will fill out the Client Intake Form HERE

  • Finally, proceed back to your portal to request your appointment. 

  • You are all set! Please note, your appointment is not confirmed until you receive a e-mail confirmation from us within 24-48 hours.

  • How can I schedule a consultation appointment?

  • Can I file my taxes virtually with you?

  • Do you require a deposit for appointments?

YES, FOR CONSULTATIONS WE HAVE A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE AND FOR TAX PREP APPOINTMENTS WE REQUIRE A RETAINER, WHICH IS HALF OF YOUR QUOTED TAX PREPARATION FEE’S.

  • When is the earliest I can file my taxes?

THE IRS OPENS STARTING JANUARY 23, HOWEVER YOU CAN BEGIN TO UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS AND PAY YOUR RETAINER TO BE FIRST IN LINE.

  • Where’s my refund?

PLEASE REFER TO EITHER OUR WEBSITE OR YOUR CLENT PORTAL, WHERE WE HAVE A “WHERES MY REFUND” OPTION WHICH DIRECTS YOU TO THE IRS WEBSITE WHERE YOU CAN CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR REFUND.

  • Can I pay my retainer with my refund?

NO, YOUR RETAINER SHOULD BE PAID OUT OF POCKET, AND WILL BE RECALCULATED INTO YOUR FINAL BILL. IF YOU ARE ELIGABLE, THE REMAINING TAX PREP FEES CAN BE PAID WITH YOUR REFUND.

  • Why should I file my taxes electronically?

Filing electronically and choosing direct deposit remains the fastest and safest way to file an accurate income tax return and receive a refund. Filing electronically reduces tax return errors as the tax software does the calculations, flags common errors and prompts taxpayers for missing information.

  • What’s the benefit of having an enrolled agent prepare my taxes?

Hiring a tax professional is the safe way to go. If you are confused by your taxes or have a lot of questions it's probably a good idea to go ahead and get a pro on your side.

  • What documents do I need to file my taxes?

  • I live in another state, can I still file my taxes with you?

YES, TAX HOUSE MIAMI HAS A VIRTUAL DEPAERTMENT FOR OUR CLIENTS, WHICH IS ESPECIALLY IDEAL FOR THOSE OUT OF STATE. 

  • How can I open a new business?

  • How can I renew my annual report?

  • I received an IRS letter, now what?

  • I am having trouble signing on to the client portal, can you help me?

IF YOUR HAVING TROUBLE DUE TO A FORGOTTEN PASSWORD PLEASE SELCT THE FORGOT PASSWORD OPTION WHERE YOU WILL BE EMAILED INSTRUCTIONS TO GET IN YOUR PORTAL. IF THE ISSUE IS MORE THEN THAT PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE. 

  • What’s the difference between tax prep and accounting?

OUR ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT SPECIALIZES IN PAYROLL, AUDITS, BOOKEEPING, AND SALES TAX. OUR TAX PREP DEPARTMENT SPECIALIZES IN FILING YOUR INDIVIDUAL AND BUSINESS TAXES.

  • Should I open a business if I’m an independent contractor? 

Independent contractors aren't required to form a state-level business entity like an LLC, but the benefits are often just too good to pass up. LLCs are generally cheap to form, don't require a ton of maintenance, protect your assets, and offer potential tax savings. If you want to open a business, one of you tax consultants can help.

  • What is BOI and how can I get it done?

The BOI filing is a report filed with a division of the Department of Treasury called FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) and details certain information about corporations and LLCs.

How do I file a BOI report?

If you are required to report your company's beneficial ownership information to FinCEN, you will do so electronically through a secure filing system available via FinCEN's BOI E-Filing website (https://boiefiling.fincen.gov)

  • Do I need to file my personal and business taxes at the same time?

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALWAYS FILING YOUR PERSONLA AND BUSINESS TAXES AT THE SAME TIME SINCE THEY GO HAND IN HAND.

  • Do I need to file an extension?

IF YOU HAVE NOT YET FILED OR PLAN ON NOT FILING DURING THE TIME PERIOD THE IRS GIVES, TO AVOID CONSEQUENSES AN EXTENTION MUST BE FILED.

  • How many years can I file for at once?

YOU CAN FILE AS MANY YEARS AS NEEDED. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY HOW MANY YEARS YOU NEED TO FILE IN YOUR APPOINTMENT NOTES. 

  • Do I need to file my previous tax year to file my current tax year?

IT IS NOT REQUIRED TO FILE PREVIOUS YEARS TO BE ABLE TO FILE YOUR CURRENT, BUT TO REDUCE ADDITIONAL FUTURE WORK OR CONSEQUENCES ITS BETTER TO GET ALL YOUR PREVIOUS YEARS OUT OF THE WAY.

  • How can I tax plan for the upcoming year?

  • How many years should we keep our tax records?

WE RECOMMED KEEPING TAX RECIRDS FOR UP TO 6 YEARS.

  • When is the annual report due?

YOUR ANNUAL REPORT MUST BE FILED BEFORE MAY 1ST.

  • My business is dissolved, what does this mean?

IF YOUR BUSINESS WAS DISSOLVED, EITHER VOLUNTARILY OR OTHERWISE, IT MEANS IT IS NO LONGER ACTIVE, HOWEVER ALL YEARS THAT HAD INCOME WHILE IT WAS ACTIVE MUST BE FILED AND ALL DEBTS OWED MUST STILL BE REPAID.

IF YOU WISH TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS ACTIVE AGAIN, YOU CAN DO A REINSTATEMENT.

  • How can I reinstate my business?

TO BEGIN A REINSTATEMENT, FIRST ANY UNDERLYING REASON WHY THE STATE LABELED YOUR BUSINESS “NOT GOOD STANTING” MUST BE RESOLVED, IF NEEDED BE.

AT TAX HOUSE WE CAN FILE A REINSTATEMENT FOR YOUR ENTITY WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE.

  • Will I receive a 1099 if I received payments through Zelle, Venmo and Cash App?

IF YOU RECEIVED MORE THAN $2,000 IN PAYMENTS, YOU WILL RECEIVE A 1099.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE ONE BECAUSE YOUR INCOME WAS LESS THAN $2,000, YOU CAN UPLOAD BANK STATEMENTS FOR YOUR PERSONAL AND BUSINESS TAXES, IF THE 1099 IS FOR A BUSINESS YOU CAN ALSO DO A PROFIT AND LOSS SHEET.

  • Do I have to file my business taxes, although I did not generate income for the year?

YOU SHOULD STILL FILE AT ZERO, EVEN IF YOU DID NOT GENERFATE INCOME. 

  • I need an ITIN, can you help?
